VGSSF information, education, and communication (IEC)

This information, education, and communication (IEC) material serves to brief the reader on the background and the contents of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries (VGSSF) in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication. The VGSSF represent the first international instrument dedicated to the immensely important but often neglected sector – small scale fisheries sector. These guidelines have been developed in support to the overall principles and provisions of the 1995 FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries.

IEC materials on the VGSSF are also available in Tagalog (link) and in Cebuano (link). These materials were produced by the Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The full document on the VGSSF may be accessed here: http://www.fao.org/3/a-i4356e.pdf
