Land Governance Issues in Asia

This video provides a background to current discourses on land rights and land reforms in Asia. It outlines key areas of debate on ensuring tenure security for the rural poor, in six inter-related themes:

– The unfinished agenda of land reforms;
– The marginalization of women and indigenous peoples;
– The neglect of land reforms in forests and lands of the “public domain”;
– Large scale land acquisitions and landgrabs due to commercial pressures;
– Growing insecurity of small farms and producers; and
– The impacts of climate change on land and tenure.

Based on the publication Land Governance in Asia: Understanding the Debates on Land Tenure Rights and Land Reforms in the Asian Context by Antonio B. Quizon. Video presented at the Philiippine National Land Governance Summit, 24 January
2023. Edited by Denise Hyacinth Joy Musni, ANGOC. 9:44 minutes.
